Acknowledgement & History

The Point Mission Bay is located on the Takaparawhau headland, overlooking the Waitematā Harbour and occupying one of Auckland's most distinctive coastal settings.

This area holds deep cultural and historical significance for Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, mana whenua of central Auckland, whose connection to this place extends across generations. Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei retain ownership of the whenua on which The Point is located, while Generus Living develops, owns and operates the village under a long-term lease arrangement.

We acknowledge the enduring relationship between Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei and Takaparawhau, and the importance of this place within the wider story of Auckland.

For many years, this site has been home to Eastcliffe Retirement Village and Care Centre. Today, The Point Mission Bay represents the next chapter, with Generus Living thoughtfully redeveloping the village to create a contemporary retirement community that reflects the significance of its setting and looks to the future.
